The countdown to summer is on and so is the start of internship season. Kaleb Power, FanThreeSixty Data Analyst, is just one of our full-time employees who started with us as an intern.
We met Kaleb during his junior year at Rockhurst University. He learned about the internship opportunity through a professor who recommended FanThreeSixty as a great place to learn about data science. Kaleb was offered an internship in May of 2022 and after graduation, joined our team full-time. We sat down for a Q&A to learn more about his FanThreeSixty journey so far.
One of the major highlights was the team I had around me while I was learning to navigate the corporate world. All of my teammates were more than willing to answer my questions, help with projects, and had great advice. The most important skill that I learned was the ability to ask questions that are targeted and specific.
As an intern, I primarily worked on internal projects such as Tableau dashboards or data validation testing implementations. Once I moved to a full-time position, I began working on client-facing projects which has been really exciting.
I've really enjoyed my current project, which is building out an event attendance model that will help predict attendance at client events in order for them to better allocate resources. As of now they only rely on their intuition or past event numbers for future event attendance, so this new tool will allow them to have a more scientific and quantifiable estimate for their fan attendance.
I enjoy the environment that really promotes learning and furthering your professional career. My manager truly wants me to learn and grow, which has really benefitted me in my young career.
The most important piece of advice I’ve received is to never stop asking questions and learning more about your field. In the technological field there are always new processes or libraries. As these new developments continue to pop up, it requires questioning and learning to understand them and how they work.
We are grateful for all the contributions Kaleb has made at FanThreeSixty and we are excited to see his career continue to grow!
